AN ISLAND REBELLION
WARSHIPS SHELLING THE REBELS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, January 23. A German steamer from New Guinea brings news that the rebels at Ponape, Caroline Islands, have erected a fortification, and two German gunboats and two warships from the Eastern Station, which were on the scene, have commenced to shell the rebels' position.
