The Rosamond arrived from Onehunga on Saturday morning and loaded 2378 crates of cheese, 2116 of which is for the lonic and the remainder for the Nairnshire. She sailed after loading for Wellington.
NEW STEAMER FOR NEW ZEALAND.
A steel screw steamer with a deadweight carrying capacity of about 2000 tons, on a draft of 115 ft Win, at present building in Germany, has been sold to the Union Steamship Co. of New Zealand, and will be ready probably next month.
There are at present two ocean liners lying off Waitara, the Waimate and the Nairnshire. The latter arrived from Newcastle on Saturday night.
PORT OF OPONAKE. High water at Opunake 15 minutes later than at New Plymouth. On January I'B the Rimu arrived from Onehunga. She discharged 30 tons of cargo and sailed for Wanganui. On January 20 the Rimu arrived from the south and discharged, and sailed for Onehunga. OVERSEAS VESSELS TO ARRIVE W WELLINGTON.
