MOA ROAD BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The Moa Road Board met at Inglewood on Saturday, when there were present: Messrs. 11. Trimble (chairman), Anderson, Bishop, Collingwood, Corkill, Lawrence, Virgin, J. Williams, and T. W. Williams. CORRESPONDENCE.

Messrs. Claridge and Qrant, settlers on Norfolk road, wrote asking the Board to repair part of the road near their properties, and ottering.to provide labor. —The chairman and Messrs. Corkill and Lawrence were appointed to interview the settlers re the matter.

Mr. D. McAllum, lion, secretary to the Taranaki Acclimatisation Society, wrotu stating that Stratford, Hawera, and his society had already arranged to buy hawks' feet at (id per pair, and suggested that the Board should fall into line, as it must be obvious that if feet are paid for in these places, the heads ol the same birds could be sent to Inglewood. —It was stated that since the Board had decided to buy heads a month or two ago, only four heads had been sent in. The letter was received.

Mr. E. Simpson, Commissioner of Crown lands, New Plymouth, wrote stating that the Land Board had approved the proposal for expenditure of £4 13s Od thirds accrued to 30th September, 1010, provided the ranger's report was favorable.

GENERAL. A telegram from the Advances to Settlers' Office stated that £3OO for the Bristol road loan had been formally approved. The New Plymouth Sash and Door Factory and Timber Co. forwarded cheque for £23 ISs 2d, being payment of road levy to October 31, 1910. In regard to carting on the Motukawa road, it was decided to pay 20s and 25s 'per day for single and double teams respectively. The sum of £54 14s (id, being the amount of the Egmont road north loan, was remitted to the Board's credit by the State Guaranteed Advances Office. It was resolved that overtime at this rate of ordinary wages be paid to foremen impounding cattle after working hours. Accounts amounting to £1073 18s 3d (general) and £7O 14s (loans) were passed for payment. RATEPAYERS' MEETING.

A meeting of ratepayers (only the members of the Board being present) was held to receive the yearly balancesheet, which had been returned from' the Government auditors. The chairman stated that this was the first occasion for a long time that no tag had been attached. The balance-sheet was duly adopted.
