WHETHER IT WAS TRUE THAT I WORE VESTMENTS, had altar lights and incense and compelled people at Sowerby Bridge to come to me for confession ? I told him that I did none of those things, and that, indeed, it would he impossible for me to compel anvone in Sowerby Bridge to do what he or'she had a mind to do. He then asked me for mv views on ritual. I told him that T had come to preach the Gospel, and would readily fall in with the ritual of any church to'which I was sent. The truth' is that T have heon mixed up with a most excellent man. Canon Ivens, of Birmingham, now, T am sorrv to say, called to his rest, who was, T believe, a somewhat advanced churchman.
