UNPAGED CYCLING RECORD. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Dunedin, Friday. Oldman rode unpaced from Christchurch to Duiiedin, 243 miles, yesterday, in 14 hours 53 minutes, thus reducing his own cycling record by 2 hours 15 minutes. ALLEGED COUNTERFEITING. Palmerston N., Friday. Michael liitossi was charged in court this morning with having in his possession a mould for making counterfeit half-crowns, lie was remanded till tomorrow, when C. 11. As a sequel to a police raid near the wharves, nine waterside workers were charged in court to-day with playing a game of chance, namely, hazards. William Spinel, said to be the ringleader, was fined £5 or one month. Alfred Sutton, previously convicted, was fined £4 or fourteen days, and three others £3 each or fourteen days. The remainder were discharged with a warning. MONSTER MEETING AT MASTERTON Masterton, Friday. A monster public meeting of representatives of all public bodies between Woodville, Featherston, and Martinborough is being favored by the Masterton Chamber of Commerce to discuss the present unsatisfactory railway timetable and to send a deputation to the Minister of Railways with a view of again putting before him the desirability of removing, -wholly or in part, the grievance so long complained of.
