SUMMARY AND FORECAST. | Telegraph.—Press Association. "" .Wellington, Last Night. The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' ■weather summary and forecast: A small but intense area of low pressure passed in the south during the early hours of this morning, and westerly gales were experienced southward of New Plymouth and Napier, heavy at times on the east coast and in Cook and Foveaux straits. Rain has been heavy in parts, and especially on the west coast and southern districts. Flooded rivers were reported this morning on the west coast and at the Bealey. Present indications are for high westerly winds, and showery and changeable weather. The barometer will probably rise slowly for a short time in the south, but a further fall is anticipated.
