RAILWAY SERVANTS' THREAT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. At a largely attended meeting of the Wanganui branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants last evening the following resolution was unanimously carried: "That if the Minister of Railways gives official recognition to the Engine-drivers', Firemen's, ana Cleaners' Association, thus breaking the agreement by which the A.S.R.S. was recognised as the only society to represent the second division grievances, this branch requests the conference to ignore the agreement and to affiliate with outside labor organisations." ' A BARQUE IN DIFFICULTIES. Nelson, Thursday. The barque Helen, which was recently in difficulties, is now sheltering in Torrent Bay, and has sent to Nelson for a bolt of canvas.

DIGGING FOR LIQUOR. Gore, Thursday. The police last evening made a raid on the premises of C. G. Thurston, and found buried in a patch of potatoes two five-gallon kegs of whisky and several bottles of whisky. A small keg of beer and two bottles partially filled with whisky were found in the dwelling. The police work in the garden caused considerable amusement amongst the onlookers.
