PETROLEUM NEWS.

THE TARANAKI COMPANY. Interest in the petroleum works is growing, as is shown by the daily increasing numbers of visitors. They have been there this week from all parts of the, Dominion, and in every instance the success of the work has made a deep impression. Progress at the bores is still satisfactory. Horing is proceeding at No. 3 and No. 5 bores. The electric light is now kid on to No. 5, and drilling will be going on day and night very shortly. An invitation has been extended to Tnglewood visitors to inspect the works today during the progress of the lnglewood seaside picnic. A similar invitation has been sent to Stratford. Applications for preference shares are still coming in steadily.
