| MONTHLY MEETING. [ The Taranaki Land Board met yesterI day moriiiiiK, and was attended by the Commissioner (in the chair), Messrs. Heslop, liattenbuiry, McCluggage, and Kennedy. TRANSFERS. ■ B. Macfarlane to C. and C.'H. Hope, sections 4 and 8, block 9, Ohura.—Approved conditionally upon the transferee residing in a bona tide manner within three months. The Commissioner voted against the resolution. T. G. Oldaker to T. E. Lawrence, sections tl and 10, block a, Xgatimaru Approved. Isaac Bacon to J. S. Daniell. section 4, block 10, Kapara.—Approved. N. Duller to N. A. Duller, section 2, block 2, Heao.—Recommended for approval. Messrs. Malone. Anderson and John-' stone applied for extension of time to complete the transfer. C. Matthews to C. and H. D, Matthews, of section 12/ block 12, Waitara.—Approved. | THE FREEHOLD. The following applied to purchase the freehold: C. and H. D. Matthews, section 12, block 12, Waitara; 11. Dobson, section 25, block 3, and sections 23 and 2!), block 0, Xgatimaru.—Applications approved. XOX-COMPLIAXCE. Selectors who have not complied with conditions were dealt with as follows: A. J. Whittaker, section 1, block 2.' Pinpiotea West, residence.—Forfeited. W. Hooks, section 2, block 2, Piopiotea West, residence.—Forfeited. D. 11. Willi-, section fi, block 11, Ohura, residence.—Six months' extension within which time lessee must reside.

Clark, section 1, block 1, Ohura, residence.—Twelve months' exemption granted. t£ McMaster, section I, block 4. residence—Mr. MeMaster appeared before the Board and stated that his wife could not reside owing to sickness, and there was no school near for the children.—Three months' extension granted in which to eli'ect a transfer.
C. >kitrop, section 7. block 11, Upper Waii-i-a, residence.—Deferred to next mcet.ug. Coburn and Banfield, section 8, block 5, Aria, improvements.—Ranger to verify statements of work done.
N. Mackenzie, section 5, block 5, Aria, improvements.—Six months' extension.
T. Thompson, section 4, block 3, Waro, improvements—Six montlis' extension. (.'. Mcllardie, section 23, block 2, Ohura.—Xo action to be taken at present, but no transfer allowed unless improvements on both sections are up to requirements.
J. VY. and G. 11. Etherington, section 3, block 11, Ohura, improvements.—Six months' extension granted. R. H. McKenzic, sections 7, 10, and 13, block 1, Aria, improvements.—To be brought up to requirements within six months, otherwise lessee's interest will be liable to forfeiture.
C. A. E. Hodgkinson, section' 7, block 7, Omona, improvements.—Six months' extension granted. J. C. Harre, sections C and 7, block 11, Pouatu, improvements.—Xo'tiee to be given to the sub-lessee that improvements to be brought into line within six months or land will be forfeited. M. J. McAvady, section 4, block 2. Ohura, improvements.—Six months' extension granted, 11. and A. M. Gill, section 2, block 2, Heao, improvements.—Deferred to next meeting. |
GEXEILAL. E. L. Erhn<i-on applied for a temporary lease of 13 acres, Spotswood settlement, at present held by E. George. —Notice to be given to Mr. George after termination of tenancy, and that the application of Mr. Erlaiidson be granted. 11. T. Twiss, Crown lands ranger, reported upon portion of the Kohurataln road in section 2, block 5, Pouatu, which had been closed.—The land to be offered for sale to the adjoining owner in terms of the ranger's report. The Board considered the question 01 the disposal of valuation for improvements on section i 5, block 2, Aria.—Resolved that the rent and expenses due be deducted from the valuation, and the remainder paid over to the outgoing lessee.
E. Tolme, Crown lands ranger, reported on the application of the Ohura County Council for a tenancy of a part ol section 12, block 0, Mangaroa.—Application granted in terms of the ranger's report. Resolved to forfeit the interest of G. 11. Lynch, in section 15, block 12, Mapara, he having failed to lake up the land when allotted him. W. M. Peacock wrote surrendering his interest in section 17, block 11, Mapara.—Accepted. The Whangamomona County Council wrote with regard to the thirds from section 2, block 15, Pouatu, which the tenant requires to be spent on Mauku road though access is by WhiUanga road.—Agreed to. The Board considered the applications received for land open on tilth December, a ballot for which was taken on the 21st ult.—Applications were confirmed.
The Under-Sevrctiirv for Lands advised with regard to expenditure of loan money on Sfarangae block.—Resolved that the Board regrets that the settlers of this block should have been placed in the present unfortunate and unusual position, in that the money usually expended for road construction within the block has been taken for bridge construction on an arterial road, tlie cost of which is generally provided for by special vote for public works.
