WAITARA, WEST ROAD BOARD.
(From Our Own Correspondent). At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Messrs J. Coiiuctt (chairman), Hall, Turnbull and Surrey. Correspondence was read from the Health Department, notifying eases of scarlatina at Lepperton; from Waitara Borough Council, stating that they would give an annual subsidy of tte 7d towards the maintenance of Tait road; from Messrs Roy and Nicholson, stating that the Kelly road deviation had been gazetted; from Public Healtih Department, re appointing the Hospital Board to act for the Board under the Public Health Act; and from Mr. P. Hoby, withdrawing his consent to raising pipes in culvert 011 York road. The clerk was directed to inform Mr. Hoby that it is necessary to raise the pipes of York road culvert, but tiliev will only be raised as high as is absolutely required. Tiio chairman reported that he had attended the meeting of the Waitara Borough Council and had been unable to obtain any contribution towards the upkeep of Belt road for previous years.— It was resolved to accept the Council's offer of an annual contribution. Concrete pipes for two culverts on Everett road were authorised to be procured. The surfacemen wire directed to repair approaches to the bridge on Kelly road, form a portion of Mnnutahi West road, by Mrs. Spencer's entrance, and also a portion of Kellv road, above Mr. Fredcrickson's. ■Surfaceman fiiddv reported that Haskell and Co. toad d; livered l>o yard's of 1 metal on Brown road, 32 yards on Corliett, and 20 yards on Mnnutahi West. Surfaceman Palmer reported that formation 'had been done on parts of York and Te Arei roads, and metal on Cross road rakod in. A filling was required by Mr. (!. Thornton's on Tate road, which would require about 100 yards of earth. It was decided to grade the following roads when road grader is available: Upper end of To Arei, Wortley, Kelly, Ackwort.li, Richmond, Tate, Pennington, ■Mamitahi West, Corbett, and to make a side-track on Waitara road. Accounts amounting to £lO7 were pa.ssed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
