THE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Nignt. At the Conference to-day the Sunday School Committee recorded its appreciation of the successful efforts made in some schools for the better equipment and organisation of the school forces. Of 300 scholars nominated for the scholars' scriptural examination, 243 returned their examination papers. The average per scholar for New Zealand had risen from 01.5 per cent, last year to 08.5 per cent, this year. In response to a deputation from the New Zealand Alliance, the Conference promised its support. Wellington, Last Ni<rht. It was reported that the Anti-Cigarette T.easni' had a membership of 138. but that there was reason to expect much greater progress during the coining year's working.
