It is understood that t'he critical stage of the reciprocity agreement lias liccn passed, and that the scope of the negotiations has been widened since the Canadians arrived in Washington. Protests are general against reciprocity in Eastern Canada. It is pointed out that America negotiates with a margin of 17 per cent, over Canada, and that there is little likelihood that such a margin will be 'wiped out, even if generous concessions are offered.
