The idea which was originally conceived some hundred years ago of establishing a Christian university in India seems Tat last to be taking definite shape. 'Two years ago efforts were made, both in Great Britain and in America, to raise funds for the purpose, and though the amount estimated for, which was upward of £250,000, has not been obtained, still sufficient money has come in to allow of a start being made. A staff of one Indian and five European professors will accordingly take up their residence .in Serampore during the month of October, and students are expected from all over India.
