FATAL FARMHOUSE FIRE
- •' FATHER AND TWO CHILDREN BURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Friday. A sad burning fatality occurred ai Menzies' Ferny this morning, a small dairy farmer named Edward Sainsbury and two children, one an infant and the other about two years old, being the victims. Sainsbury and his wife left the house at an early hour to milk cows in the shed, about a hundred yards away. About an hour afterwards the house was seen on fire, and the father hastened to the rescue of his children and entered a window, but was not seen afterwards. The building and furniture were destroyed, and the charred bodies of the father and children were found in the debris. Sainsbury was 30 years old and had been farming at Menzies Ferry seven years. He came from the Lakes district, where his widow's relatives are said to reside.
