At the inquest into the death of Archibald Steone, who was found dead in Edinburgh Gardens, North Fitzroy, on New Year's Day, Percy Fynch, who is charged with murder, stated that he, with two girls, was crossing the Gardens, and deceased asked for a cigarette, and 'then attempted to assault one of the ! girls. A fight followed. Deceased produced a toy revolver, and he (Fynch) [snatched it and hit deceased on the head. He fell, and witness ran away. Dej ceased was under the influence of drink. I The girls corroborated the story, but another witness declared that deceased was perfectly sober on the night of t\ c tragedy; also that he was of quiet tcmporament? and never smoked. A medical witness opined that death wa? the result of a kick on the head while deceased was prostrate. The inffMSt, was adjourned.
