HIGH SCHOOL DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. There was a disastrous blaze at noon to-day, by which the District High School was practically destroyed, onfy the walls of the new brick portion being'" l left standing, while a dean sweep was made of the old timber-built wing. Illfortune seems to have attended theae l school buildings. About two and a half years ago a fire broke out in the old portion of the building, which was totally destroyed, two newer rooms being sand and brick built. A structure of large dimensions replaced the burned portion of the building, being completed ' fifteen months ago. All tho" buildings are now destroyed. Painters completed renovating only yesterday morning. The origin of the fire is a mystery. There are no insurances on the building, the department taking its own risk. If your property m not insured call at or ring up the Veiled Insurance Company, Ltd., Devon-street. Telephone 108. * Webster Bros., dißtrict agents. Insuranees effected on the most favorable terms.—Advt. »
