ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedln, Last Night. At the inquest held at Mosgiel to-day on the body of Samuel Fibbes, aged 20, who was fatally injured yesterday, the evidence showed that while deceasea was engaged in shunting his boot must have got caught in the points, and he was unable to release it, with the result that eight waggons went over him, cutting off his leg and arm. It was pointed out that if deceased had been wearing elastic side boots he might have been able to release his foot. The Coroner said that he would make a recommendation to the Department, as to the advisability of providing elastic side boots for shunters. A verdict of accidental death was returned. DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE. • Dunedin, Last Night. At the inquest on the body of George Todd, who lost his life while examining the sunken Rise and Shine dredge, the medical evidence was that valves of Todd's heart were affected, and that he died of heart disease. A verdict ol death from natural causes was returned. A MOTOR-CAR FATALITY. Invereargill, Last Night. At the inquest touching the deaths of Dr. Fullarton, his child, and Dora Martin, the victims of the motor-car and train collision at the Wallacetown crossing, the jury returned a verdict that death was duo to the collision of the car and the train, no blame being attachable to anybody. The jury added a n.ier that the Railway Department snould be asked to have the high bank on the side of the line moved, with a view to minimising the risks. SUICIDE AT AUCKLAND. Auckland, Last Night. A determined suicide was committed this evening in Albeit Park, a man named Alexander Neilson swallowing a quantity of lysol. Deceased was about fifty years of age, and, as far as can bo ascertained, he had no relatives in the Dominion. He had been working for some time in a restaurant.
