m - OASWORKERS REFUSE DUTY. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright.! Received 13, 12.55 a.m. Sydney, January 12. A surprise was sprung 1 on the city tonight by the strike of twelve hundred employees of the Australian Gaslight Company. Trouble has been brewing for some time. It started through the company dismissing an employee —a member of the union—who was foun:l asleep at his post. To-night's development was quite unexpected, and unless a speedy settlement is effected the city will be without gas, as the supply is sufficient only for to-morrow night.
