At the monthly meeting of the Hawera Borough Council on* Wednesday evening Councillor E. A. Pacey sent in his resignation, owing to the 1010 amendment to the Municipal Corporations Act, he being a director of the Hawera Gas Company. Mr. J. A. Matheison, touring representative for Messrs. John Fuller aud Sonsami the Taylor-Carrington management, arrived yesterday to arrange for the presentation here of the Arm's latest and most successful picturedratna, "The' Story of tho Kelly Gang." Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., left yesterday by train for Taumarunui, at whielis place he delivers a political address this evening. The Wahwtrino A, and P. Association have just made Mr. Jennings a life member in recognition' of his services to the Waimarino section of hisconstituents. i

Mr. James Sinclair, ex-Mayor of Waimat«, and councillor for many yearn, was presented with a purse of sovereigns by the Mayor of Waimate. Mr. Francis,, on behalf of the citizens, spoke in glowing terms of Mr. Sinclair's services during his 30 years' residence, he having, filled some of the most important positions in the town. The Masonic Hope Lodge presented him with a solid silver tea service, in recognition of his 1R years' secretaryship. The Royal ArchChapter a few evenings ago presented him with a jewel appertaining to the office of scribe. Mr. Sinclair has retired from business, and is taking up his residence in Dunedin.—Press Association.
