TROUT AT ROTORUA

A RAID ON SHAGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In order to improve trout fishing in Lake Rotorua, the Government to-day decided to inaugurate a raid on shags, which are believed to be the cause ot destruction of the fish reared. Half a crown a head will be paid for shags in the Thermal Springs district. It has also been decided to appoint a fish expert to take charge of the Thermal Springs fisherics. Applications are to be invited for a specialist in Canada and New Zealand. Kaura hatcheries are to be established at Roturoa and Taupo to breed food supplies for trout.
