Of these, 27 males and 5 i'emalcs were discharged for want of prosecution or wain of evidence; the cases against 13 males were dismissed on the merits; 11 males and 1 female were committed for triai or sentence; 131 males and 11 females were summarily convicted; 100 males and 11 females were lined; 0 males and ] female were imprisoned in lieu of fine, 23 males were peremptorily imprisoned; orders were made against 02 males and 4 females; and'.sl3 males and 8 females were convicted and discharged witn cautions. Common assault, 5 males apprehended, 1 discharged, 4 summarily convicted ana fined, 1 being imprisoned in lieu of fine; assault causing actual bodily harm, 2 males apprehended, 2 committed for trial or sentence; burglary, 3 males apprehended and committed; forgery and uttering, 3 males apprehended and committed; housebreaking, 3 males apprehended, 2 discharged, 1 committed; obtaining by false pretences, 5 males apprehended, 1 discharged. 4 summarily convicted and imprisoned; sending false telegram, 1 male apprehended, summarily convicted and imprisoned; theft (under the Justices of the Peace Act), 7 males apprehended, summarily convicted, and imprisoned; theft (under the Crimes Act). 1 male and 1 female apprehended, 1 female discharged. 1 male committed for trial or sentence; theft from dwelling, 3 males and 1 female apprehended, and copimitted.
Drunkenness, 7fi males and 12 females apprehended, 1 female discharged for want of prosecution or want of evidence, 34 males and 5 females summarily convicted, 31 males and 5 females fined, 3 males and 1 female imprisoned in lieu of fine, 2 males peremptorily imprisoned, order made against 1 male, 42 males and 0 females convicted and discharged with caution; application for prohibition orders. 30 males summoned, against all of win in orders were made; orders for expenses in cases of helpless drunkenness were made aginst 4 males; collecting under false pretences, 1 male apprehended, summarily convicted and imprisoned; procuring liquor while prohibited, C nudes summoned, summarily convicted, and fined; on licensed premises while prohibited, 2 males summoned, summarily convicted, and fined,' 1 being imprisoned in lieu of fine; selling liquor without license, 1 male summoned, convicted, and fined; exposing liquor for sale without a license. 1 male summoned, convicted, and discharged with a caution; using indecent language, 5 males summoned, 1 discharged, 4 convicted, 3 fined, 1 imprisoned in lieu of fine, and 1 peremptorily imprisoned; grossly indecent act in public place, 5 males summoned, convicted, and discharged with caution; begging in public place, 1 male summoned, and ease dismissed; no visible lawful means of support, 1 female summoned, convicted, and discharged with caution; resisting police in execution of their duty, 1 male apprehended, convicted and peremptorily imprisoned; drunk while in charge oi' horse, 1 female apprehended, convicted, ami fined; behaving in disorderly manner on footway, 1 male summoned, and case dismissed; bastardy, ti males summoned. 2 discharged, 4 orders made; wife desertion, 2 males summoned, 1 discharged, 1 order made; failing to support, 8 males summoned, 2 discharged, 2 dismissed, 4 orders made; disobeying maintenance order, 12 males summoned.
