DRUNKEN FIREMEN

The steamer Mokoia, from Auckland, was three hours late in arriving yesterday, owing to trouble with some of the firemen. Captain McLean stated the delay was caused through a number of the firemen being intoxicated and not being able to attend to the furnaces properly. Some had refused to work, and had been logged, and were liable to he prosecuted. The vessel 011 arrival had hardly suffi- , cient steam to work the cano winches, an.. 11. was 15.30 f.his morning before she took her ueparture for the south, the passengers missing the Wellington express at Napier.
