' SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather summary and forecast: A westerly storm area enveloped the country on evening, and westerly gales were afterwards prevalent southward of Kawhia and Castle Point. A westerly gale is reported this evening at Farewell Spit. Thunderstorms occurred in parts, and heavy rain fell on the west coast of the South Island and in other parts. Present indications are for squally and showery weather in parts, with variable winds, but moderate to strong southerly winds prevailing shortly-everywhere, and fair weather probably following. The. barometer is due to rise steadily everywhere soon.
