GLAMOUR OF GRASS-SEEDING. By Tetegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Thursday. Banks' Peninsula seems to possess strong attractions for able-bodied younf men during the grass-seeding season. A* the local office of the Labor Department to-day there was quito a small crowd of young fellows offering their services for the work, and bent on obtaining the necessary passes to take them to the scene of operations. The applicants included a number of new arrivals in New Zealand, but the majority was made up of young men from the country, who have had previous experience of grossseeding. The officer in charge stated that there is a demand on the Peninsula, for young men who are experts at grassseeding.

BEES IX FIGHTING MOOD. '. Palmerston N., January 4. A peculiar but painful experience happened to a young lady on Christmas Day at Kairanaga, near Palmerston. She wa« riding along one of the roads when a swarm of bees, apparently in fighting mood, alighted on her, and, before they were dislouged, she was very severely stung about the forehead and on the back of the neck. Fortunately the horse which she was riding at the time was a quiet one, otherwiso more serious results might have ensued. As it was, the bees left their mark.
