The second test match,. South Africa v. Australia, commences at Melbourne to-day. Strange as it may seem, Clem; Hill and Warren Bardsley had never played together on the some side prior to the last test match at Sydney. And this pair of brilliant left-handers put on 224 in their first association, a Tecord second-wicket partnership in test cricket. The 404 runs, made mainly by the exertions of Bardsley, Hill and Gehfs, is a one day's record for a test match. As a matter of fact' it Has only twice been surpassed in Australian first-class cricket —by New South Wales (546) against Tasmania, who were dismissed for TS the same day, and by New South Wales (499) against South Australia. . " Apropos to records. - In a match re'cently played at West Wyalong, of the total of 265, including 10' sundries, Moore contributed 222, not another man on the side making double figures. Moore's innings lasted 1(00 minutes. He is over 6ft in height, by occupation a school teacher, and is related to Charlie Macartney. .
- Playing at Broken Hill, for the Violets against the Mayfairs, in the Ladies' Association matches, Miss M. Reedy scored 105 not out, and captured seven wickets for 20 runs. *
