PROBABLE EXPULSION FROM WALLIS ISLAND.

Dr. Brochard, French Commissioner at Wallis Island, is visiting Sydney, and states that the Roman Catholic priests will probably be expelled from tne island. He added that the natives some time ago ordered the priests, five in number, to leave, but they took no notice, imported rifles and ammunition, distributed them to friendly natives, deposed the King and appointed a King of their own choice. The priests had been getting most of tlic' money for copra, the natives doing all the work. The priests made the natives build houses and churches without pay. Dr. Brochard intends placing the matter beforo the authorities at Noumea.
