ONE MONTH'S IMPRISONMENT. By Cable.—Press Association. —Oooyright Paris, December 28. Francois Medaille, an artist, has been acquitted on the charge of murdering his wife, and sentenced to a month's imprisonment for carrying a revolver. The evidence showed that Medaille's wife had estranged their daughter from her father.

At Paris on August 0 an artist named Francois Medaille, who had brought an action for divorce against his wife, shot the woman dead before the eyes of his daucliler.

Til; action had been proceeding for souk- time, and by a provisional decree the custody of the daughter was granted 'o the mother. Mme. Medaille seemed disinclined to give the girl up, and the artist brought a subsidiary action against his wife on this ground. In the Courts the girl pleaded to be allowed to live with her mother on account of her father's "violent and brutal character." The decree was accordingly altered, granting the girl her request. "So I may not take my own daughter on a holiday with me?" the artist cried. "It is an outrage!" He left the Court, and waited for his wife outside the door.
