THE KAITOA.
The Kaitoa arrived yesterday morning from Westport and Nelson with 150 tons of Stockton coal and 20 tons of general cargo. She sailed for Greymouth about 6 pjn.
THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond, from Wellington, arrived in port yesterday afternoon. Her cargo amounted to 60 tons, after the discharging of which she sailed for Onehiunga.
THE NEW KOWHAI,
The Kowhai,, latest addition to the Union Company's fleet,' which arrived at Dunedin last week from Liverpool, via Capetown, is a light-draught cargo steamer specially adapted for working bar harbors. The Kowhai (formerly the Hopeful)' is a vessel of gross register. The vessel, which is to be engaged in the coal trade, will take a considerable amount of fitting up to adapt her for this work.
It is reported that the Blackball Coal Co. is already arranging for the building of a collier at Home to succeed the Petone. A new vessel of 10,000 tons is being built by the Golden Cross Line for the Australian and New Zealand trade,
