The total production was 22,000,000 gallons, the lowest for sixteen years. Stock increased by 16,000,000 gallons, and is now 115,000,000 gallons, equal to six years' consumption.

BARRACKS BURNED. Received 29, 10.35 p.m. Paris, December 29. The barracks at Compedence were burned, together with twelve thousand rifles, also much stores and uniforms. The damage amounts to £8,000,000.
