Hicks, drawn; Grierson lost to Da vies; Dunlop beat Rev, Fox; Beck lost to Mara; Gyks, a bye, pairing. The second round starts in the morning, when J. Mason meets GTierstin, W. E. Mason meets Hicks, Dunlop meets <3yle*, Davies meets Barnes, Rev. Fox meets Mara, and has the bye. ■.. - . - ' Timaru, Last Njight. The chess championship second round has concluded. J.
