A WALL OF FIRE

DESTROYS MILES OF FARMS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Sydney, December 23. Destructive bush fires are reported in the Deniliquin district. An area thirty miles long and twelve miles wide has been devastated, and many holdings swept, including large portions oE the Xariga, Mathoura and AVarbreecan stations. Many thousands of acres of grass, hundreds of acres of wheat, many sheep, a few houses, and miles of fencing have been destroyed. A gale carried a wall of fire across the country with tremendous rapidity, despite the efforts of hundreds of fire fighters.
