It was Mr. Charles Atkinson, not Anderson (as erroneously stated yesterday) who met with an accident in Egraont street on Thursday. His Excellency the Governor has been invited by Hi 9 Worship the Mayor (Mr, G. Tisch) to pay an official visit to New Plymouth during the last week in January. We are informed by cable that after attending Oxford University ex-King Manuel proposes to tour Australia,- Canada, America, and the Ear East to study methods of government. Among the nurses who passed the State examination for registration as trained nurses were Misses Ethel Taylor (Hawera), Elizabeth Stoddart (New Plymouth and Waipiikurau), and Catherine Walker (Stratford). Eary Grey, the Governor-General of Canada, next year will travel to the Yukon via the Mackenzie River, returning from Dawson City to Vancouver. Earl Grey last summer made a trip over the route of the proposed Hudson Bay railway. Mr. F. K. Turnbull, who has identified himself actively with the affairs of the New Plymouth Swimming Clug for some time, and who is leaving on Monday on a trip to Australia prior to opening a business in the Dominion in the legal profession, was presented with a traveK ling bag by his comrades last night as a token of esteem and in recognition of hid services. Mr. Turnbull has also figure* prominently in local football and cricket circles.
