At Urenui on Monday, yearling steers made £2 lips to £3, yearling to 15months heifers £3 3s, 18-nionths do. £3 310s, 18-months steers £3 9s Gd to £3 13s, 2-yr steers £4 ss, 2y 3 to 3-yr do. £5 5s Gd, store cows £2 15s to £3 15s, forward do. £4 fis to £4 lis Gd, fat cows £5 to £5 2s Gd, springing heifers £4 I'Hs to £5 2s Gd, cows and calves £4 6s, bulls £3 to £3 14s. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a small yarding. Yearling heifers mnde £2 19s to £3 os Gd, store cows £4 Os 6d, forward do. £4 8s Cd to £4 10s, fat do. £5 9s, 2 to 2y 2 -year steers £4 14s, dairy cows £5 7s 6d, ewes (mixed aged) li6s Gd, bulls £3 to £3 10s. At Rahotu on the same day weane* heifers made £1 Bs, yearling heifers £2 13s 6d to £2 19s Gd, yearling steers £2 9s 6d, store cows £3 10s to £4 3s, forward do. £4 9s, Gd to £4 15S, fat cows £5 to £0 Ills, springing heifers £4 7s Gd to £5, bulls £2 ISs to £4.
At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a fair yarding with good enquiry, and nearly everything sold at the hammer. Weaner heifers made 31s) weaner steers 29s to 35s 6d, yearling Jersey heifers £3 10s, heifers R'.W.B. £3 10s' to £3 15s, store cows £3 lis to £4, forward do. £4 3s 6d td £4 19s, fat cows £5 4s to £5 Ms, springing heifers £4 10s to £5 17s 6d, cows and calves £4 4s, pedigree Jersey iheifers (l;6-months old) ,10y a gns, fat ewes 14s to 18s Gd, mixed ewes Bs. The dairy cows sold on account of Mr. J. Kelly were well competed for, and sold readily. Cows in milk, Jersey strain, madei £7 to £l'l' 10s, ordinary cows £4 liOs to £6 ss, bulls £2 17s to £4 15s.
iMATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report a rather small yarding of cattle at their Inglewood yards on AVednesday last, but the attendance was good and prices as high as late sales. We quote: Bulls £3 7s to £5 18s, springing .heifers £4 10s to £0 I'os, store cows £3 9s to £4 ss, springing cows £5 to £6 12s Gd, cows in milk £5, weaners 2«s 6d to 27s Gd, fat and forward cows £4 15s to £5 5s Gd.
ADDMJTON. At the Addington live stock market two-tooth wethers made '9s 3d to lis, forward 4 and 6-tooth wethers 13s Id to Ms 6d, merino wethers 8s Id, 0-tooth . ewes 12s 6d to 1.3s 3d, 2-tooth ewes 12s Id, small sorts 9s 6d, mixed ages 9s 6d to Ms 7d, aged hoggets 10s 3d to lis 4d. Lambs—The prices paid iby the butchers ranged from 12s 3d to 17s 2d, as against 9s lOd to 13s lid paid by the butchers for 1525 lambs at the corresponding sale last year. Fat sheep—Prime wethers 16s 6d to 17s Bd, extra to 20s 6d, others 13s 3d to 16s, prime ewes 14s to 17s 6d, others 8s 8d to 13s 6d, merino wethers 14s. Fat cattle—Steers made £6 las to £lo.los, heifers £5 10s to £8 17s 6d, cow ■ £5 5s to £.lO 10s (equal to 25s to 27s 6d for prime, 23s to 24s for medium, and 20s to 22s 6d for cow and inferior per 1001b). V«il calves made 4s 6d to 51s, according to size and quality. Store cattle—Yearlings 30s, 15 to 18months 40s to 57s 6d, 2-year steers £4 10s to £5 ss, 3-year heifers £3 17a 8d to £4 15s, dry cows 21s to £4 17s Cd. Dairy cows made £3 10s to £O. Pigs—There was a medium entry, with a good demand for all classes. Choppers : made up to 70s, large baconers 50s to 575, j smaller 43s to 48s (equal to 4y 2 d per lb); ! large porkers 28s to 345, smaller 2s 2d to 27s (equal to 4y 2 d per lb); large stores 22s to 2Ss, medium 16s to 20s, weaners 4s 6d to Ss.
BURtfSIDE. At Burnside 147 fat cattle were yarded, the quality on the whole being only medium. The demand was limited, and prices were easier. Best bullocks £lO 10s to £lll 10s, extra £l3, medium £9 to> £9 16s, inferior £7 10s to £8 ss, best cows and heifers £7 10s to £8 10s, extra £9, medium £5 15s to £0 10s, inferior £4 10s to £5. Fat sheep —1609 penned, a medium yarding. The quality was only fair, but prices were fully as good as last week's rates. Best wethers 18s to Ills, extra 19s 9d, medium 16s 6d to 17s 6d, inferior 14s to 15s 6d, best ewes 14s to 16s, extra 21s, medium 12s to 13s, inferior 9s to lis. Fat lambs —1534 penned. The quality in most cases was only medium, but the demand was good, and prices were firmer. Best 16s to 17s 6d, medium 14s to 15s, inferior lis to 12s 6d. Pigs —There was a medium yarding. Prices for small pigs were firmer, while porkers and baconers sold at much the same rates as last week.
JOHXSOXVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale, held on Wednesday:—We offered an extra heavy yarding of cattle and sheep, which sold at late rates. Best bullocks £8 17s lid to £9 2s Cd, lighter £8 5s to £8 12s (Id, light £8 to £8 2s 6d, vealers 90s to 36s, 1 good quality wethers 16s 6d to 17s, medium l<6s, good ewes 14s Cd to ISs, prime lambs Us 3d to 14s 4d, plain lis (id. MASTERTON. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale: We submitted a medium entry of both sheep and cattle.
