In order to afford facilities for the transmission by telegraph of Christmas and New Year greetings, special printed forms may be obtained at the telegraph l office for use on and between the 20tfli and 24th, and the 27th and 31st December. Such telegrams will be delivered at the principal telegraph offices on cards bearing views of New Zealand scenery, etc. At other offices the telegrams will be written on ordinary forms. A uniform charge of sixpence for each such telegram will be made, provided the address and signature do not contain more than eleven words. If, however, the text as printed is varied in any way, or other words added thereto, the telegram will be treated as an ordinary one and charged for accordingly. , CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. POSTAL BRANCH. On Monday, the 26th inst. (for Christmas Day) and on Monday, the 2nd prox. (for New Year's Day), the Post Office , observes a close holiday, and all mails usually despatched on those days will be closed at 6.15 a.m.. On Tuesday, the 27th inst. (for Boxing Day), the Post Office will open in all branches, except Money Order and Sav- ' ings Bank, from 9 a.m. till 10 a.m. The usual despatch of mails on this day will be made up to 8 a.m. The travelling post office will run as usual. Sunday hours (9.30 a.m. till 9 p.m.) will be observed in the private box lobby on 26th inst. and 2nd prox. Ordinary hours on 27th inst. On Saturday, 24th and 31st inst. a de-. livery of town letters will be made'over the P.O. counter from 8 p.m. till 9 p.m. TELEGRAPH BRANCH. On Monday, the 26th inst. (for Christ-' mas Day) the hours of attendance will be from 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m; and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Tuesday, 27th inst. (for Boxing Day), and Monday, 2nd prox. (for New Year's Day) the hours of attendance will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight. TELEPHONE EXCHANGE. On Monday, the 26th inst. (for Christ-1 mas Day), the hours of attendance will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to <S pan. On the other holidays the Exchange will be open as usual. On and after Monday, 26th inst., the Vogeltown Post Office receiving box will be cleared daily at 4.30 a.m., in addition to the present clearance. Correspondence posted in time for the early clearance will reach the Chief Post Office in time for the outward mails per morning express. The receiving box at corner Dawson and Bulteel street will in future be cleared at 4.30 a.m. instead of 5 a.m. J. H.
