FIRES.
A FACTORY BURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. - A two-storey building at Kilbirnie, owned and occupied by F. 0. Weine, as a basket-making factory, was destroyed by fire just before 6 o'clock this evening. A high wind was blowing, and by the time the brigade arrived the place was practically gutted. The building was insured for £3OO, and the stock for a similar amount in the South British office. It is supposed the fire was caused by sparks blown from some refuse left burning in the fireplace when the'workmen went to tea.
