LOSS OF THE WARATAH

THE HEARING ADJOURNED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, Decenfter 20. Mr. F. Lund, cross-examined at the Waratah. enquiry, said that Captain Hbery never seriously complained that the Waratah was less stable than the Geelong. Counsel: Then your letters to the builders were bluff, in order to press forward the settlement of demurrage? Witness replied: they were not serious letters. The gravity of the disaster had greatly affected his father's health. Five passengers gave evidence to the effect that they were alarmed at the vessel's topheaviness, and had discussed the matter with the officers. Another passenger said he had never sailed in a safer vessel. The hearing was adjourned till January 9.
