ENGLAND AND AMERICA
A GERMAN STATESMAN'S JEALOUSY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Berlin, December 20. Count Reventlow denounces the fraternisation of Americans and English during the recent visit of the United States fleet to England. The neglect to visit Germany was, he says, a deliberately unfriendly act, amounting to a political demonstration when viewed with the vapourisings of American officers cabled on December 4.
[The so-called "vapouvings" were contained in the reply of Commander Ames to the Lord Mayor's welcome at the Guildhall to American sailors. The cabled report stated that Commander Ames said that personally he believed that if the British Empire were seriously menaced by an external enemy, the British people might count upon every man, every dollar, and every drop of blood from their kindred across the sea.]
