SUMMARY AND FORECAST. j By Telegraph.—Press Association. I Wellington, Last Night. J The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast :-Wwterly gales ■were reported on Tuesday night and this morning in Cook and Foveaux straits, and moderate to strong northerly and westerly winds elsewhere. The barometer rose smartly in the extreme south. Everywhere the weather has been sultry, and rain haß fallen in parts, especially on the West Coast of the "South Island, jpresent indications are for strong westerly' winds, veering to a southerly gale in many parts, within the ne*t 36 hours. A change for cold weather may be expected shortly, with rain in most parts the country. The barometer will probably fall everywhere for a short time, but rise everywhere after about 24 boors.
