ATHLETICS.
. ■';. RAHOTU CLUB. .j This progressive club is again to* the fore with a, first-class programme for the.annual sports meeting, which is to be held on Monday, January 2nd. An enthusiastic committee, comprising all the local sporting men, with. Mr. S. J. Candish as chairman, ihas been formed, and all the arrangements for a successful gathering in keeping with the reputation that the coastal club holds are now well ia train. The secretarial duties are again in the hands of Mr L. Fischer, whose experience of the past three meetings should serve the club in good stead. Nominations for the chopping and sawing events closed on Saturday evening, and the public, who are unable to visit Eltham to see the champions perform, could not do better than visit Rahotu on New Year's Day and see several future champions exercise their skill. Nominations for the running and cycling events close on Saturday next, the 24th inst, and local cyclists and pedestrians will find much to interest them in a perusal of the programme, which appears in this issue. The committee are making considerable improvements to the cycling track, which promises to be in good order.
