DEFENCE APPOINTMENTS

THE NEW SCHEME.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

The following officers and non-com-missioned officers, having been recommended for posts as adjutants and instructors under the new defence scheme, have been warned to attend the camp of instruction near Wellington about January 7th next. They are to be distinctly given to understand that their attendance at the camp gives no guarantee that they will be taken on permanently,' and that they will be liable to dismissal* from the camp at any time during their six months' probation should they be found unsuitable.
