WAITARA NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The net result of last week's school concert pans out "£24 15s, and, with the amount already in hand, totals up £4O Os 6d, for the purpose of erecting shelter sheds for the children. It is proposed to wait on the Education Board at its-next meeting with a view of asking them to subsidise the amount £ for £, so that two buildings that will be adequate for the purpose may be built. There seems no reasonable doubt that the application will be granted, as when parents are willing to subscribe £4O for the purpose the Board should not hesitat3 in subsidising a like amount.

The Band have been unfortunate in having such shocking weather for their bazaar, but, taking this into consideration, the attendance has been fairly good. The public are always loyal to the Band, and on every occasion when a call has been made have responded well, and it is sheer hard luck that three such wretched days and nights should come at such an inopportune moment.'

The final for the H. X. Cossar medals was rowed on Friday night, when Telfar (stroke), C. Old, L. Andrews, V. Tate and L. Sampson (cox) met E.. Andrews (stroke), Pukere, Bums, Bell and F. Klenner (cox). TStar's crew was superior in condition, and won a good race by about two lengths.
