STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford. Last Night.
Five rinks from the Hawera Bowling Club visited Stratford to-day and defeated the local club by 1141 to 107. Hawera cricketers beat Stratford today by 97 runs. Hawera's score was lfi3 runs, of which Pratt contributed 57, McCarthy 33, Sergeant 15, Cole (not out) l'i. and Cooper 10. Stratford compiled only 76, Cargill being top scorer ■with 20, and Prebble nest with 12. It is reported that a syndicate is, takinv over .the partly completed building in Broadway North, originally intended as a stable, with the object of converting it into a picture hall and skating rink. The' Stratford School Cadets competitions concluded yesterday, when Barry Wake -headed the list with a score oi 83, ana E. M. \v'ylie came second with 82. Two local residents had the good luck to draw a £IOO prize in a Tattersall's sweep.
