HOCKEY
TIIH AUSTRALIAN TOUR. A meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association was hold last night. A letter was received from the New Zealand Council concerning the visit of an Australian team. This Association was asked to guarantee for a match, and to billot- the team during (heir stay. The Association, whilst welcoming the projected visit, considered that the guarantee of X2O asked here was out of proportion to the amount (£2.j) asked of Auckland, Wellington and other large centres, and offered to guarantee £\3 and find accommodation for the visiting team for two days. The local Association is to manage the match, in any case, and to tako the gate-money.
