THE NEED FOR COLONIES EMPHASISED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Received 13, 11 p.m. Berlin, December 13. In the Reichstag, Herr Waschter made conciliatory references to France in Morocco. Herr Lindequist delivered the colonial statement. He said that Germans were thoroughly persuaded that they must have colonies, and in view of the serious shortage of cotton, and the demand for wool, it was essential that German industries should obtain the raw material from her own colonies, and become independent of foreigners, with controllable speculation and cornering operations. Trade during 1910 increased by from seven millions to nine millions sterling.
UNEASINESS IN FRANCE. Received' 13, 11 p.m. Paris, December 13. The Press comments on Herr Hollweg's statement in the Reichstag are noticeably reserved, though the statement dealing with the relations between Russia and Germany have created slight uneasiness.
