TAILOR-MADE PROBLEM. JUDGE AFFIRMS WORK COULD BE DONE EQUALLY AS WELL BY WOMEN. London, October 30. The wife of the <well-known King's Counsel, Mr. Marshall Hall, M.P., was sued at Bloomsbury County Court on Wednesday for eleven guineas for the making of a coat and skirt and a blouse. Mr. Alphonse Lamaine, of Great Port-land-street, the plaintiff, said Mrs. Hall was displeased with the color; but counsel declared the garments did not fit. The tailor said he asked Mrs. Hall to try on the skirt, but she refused. The blouse was finished, but it was returned to him. He denied that Mrs. Hall came to his premises five times. Mr. Lamaine said he was a ladies' tailor. Judge Bacon: Isn't it affectation for women to go to a tailor to have dresses made by him? Counsel: There is the fit. Judge Bacon: Women can do the work just as w-ell as the men. His Honor said that he would see the clothes when they were on. Mrs. Hall retired to a room, and, later, a.ttired in the garments, returned to the Court. She took a place on the steps to the judge's bench, while ibis Honor began his inspection . ''Now, don't talk," was the judge's first injunction. "And don't wriggle about," he added. Judge Bacon measured each seam of the long coat, and then directed that the coat should be taken off. "There are things in the making of the costume," said Judge Bacon, "that will prevent the coat and skirt ever being set right. The diagonal material is cut in such a way that it can never be made to fit." Counsel pleaded that ,the blouse would be all right. Judge Bacon: A white blouse will jo with anything, but a colored one will not. You ask your wife. Mrs. Hall said the clothes did not fit, and Judge Bacon agreed, and gave judgment for her, with costs.
