STEAMERS IN COLLISION

SUSSEX ARRIVES AT SYDNEY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 13, 12.10 a.m. Sydney, December 12. The steamer Sussex has arrived from Liverpool, and bears evidences of the serious nature of the collision with the collier Ncwstead at Las Palmas, previously reported by cable. The collision occurred at night, when the vessel was' leaving after coaling. The Sussex had her bow badly knocked about, the damage extending almost down to the forefoot. The stem was twisted, several plates on the starboard side dented, and the fore-peak flooded. The vessel was delayed for eight days at Las Palmas, making temporary repairs.
