LONDON WOOL SALES. By Gable—Press Association—Copyright. London, December 7. Following is the High Commissioner's cable, under date London, December 6:— The sixth series of wool sales has closed. Fine merinos and all crossbreds were firm at the same price as at the close of last sale, inferior merinos %d a lb. cheaper. Trade is good' and prospects favorable for crossbreds, as supplies will be moderate. Large shipments of merino wools are expected from Australia. Two thousand bales of New Zealand wool were held over. The estimated values of New Zealand! wool at the close of'the fifth series held in London on October 8 were as follow:—Superior merino, 13d to 15y 2 d, medium merino 10y 2 d to 12% d, inferior merino 7y 2 d to lOd, fine crossbreds all grades 13y 2 d to 16d, medium crossbreds all grades 13y 2 d to 16d, medium crossbreds lid to 13d, coarse crossbreds all grades 8y 2 d to L 0y 2 d.
The Bank of New Zealand reports:— We 'have received the following cabled advices from our London office: The sales ha vi closed very, firm, and prospects are good for all descriptions of wool except merinos; prices are unchanged. Total quantity held over, 8000 bales, of which 1000 bales are New Zealand. ARGENTINE WHEAT. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Buenos Ayres, December 6. Broomliall estimates the Argentine surplus of wheat for export to be ait least three million tons, and puts the yield in some districts at 37 Mj bushels per hectacfe (2% acres). ARGENTINE EXPORTS. Wellington, Yesterday. The Department of Commerce has received the following cablegram from Buenos Aires under date December 6:— The following shipments of produce were despatched from the Argentine to United Kingdom ports during November, 1910 (figures for 1909 in parentheses):—l9o9: Frozen beef, 125,660 (144,175) quarters; chilled beef, 172,805 (92,622) quarters; frozen mutton, 305,543 (157,326) carcases; frozen lamb, 62,710 (22,941) carcases. Butter, 9800 (4749) cwts.
