The woman who is going away for Xmas will want to slip a few extra blouses into her travelling case. She may prefer to make these herself, so in a replace advertisement Messrs Morey and Son draw attention to their values in delaines. The values are said to be the best obtainable—a statement, ot course, which every fair reader will best be able to judge after due comparison. In connection with the New Plymouth Operatic Society's performance at Stratford to-night, the Railway Department announces that a special passenger train, stopping only at Inglewood, will leave New Plymouth for Stratford af 5.32 p.m., and will leave Stratford on the return trip at 11.30 p.m. Mr. Thos. Sole Bros, have an announcement in our advertising columns this morning which will be of great interest to housewives just now. Ice can be obtained in any quantities when desired. The first holiday event of the holiday season is the Park Lawn Tennis Club's garden party at "Overdale." Mr. Cock's grounds are charmingly laid out, and beautifully kept, 1 and there is <no finer place for a garden party. "Overdale" is within easy walking distance, only a couple of minutes beyond the Recreation Grounds, and doubtless there will be 'buses running, too. The club is beautifying a hitherto neglected part of the Recreation Grounds, and providing a much needed playing area for the most popular of summer games, and is deserving of support. Apart from this aspect, the committee in charge of the garden party arrangements promise full value for the shilling- charge at the gate, and the ticket of admission entities patrons to a bountiful afternoon tea. One of tlie most unbelievable things in Taranaki is the quality of the men's tailor-made suits of green and brown worsted, indigo ooatings and worsteds that can be bought at the Melbourne for 59s Od and Gas. They are not the ordinary tailor-made suits at all, but compare with the better class —with the work of the fashionable city tailors.— Advt.
