DISTRICT NEWS.

LINCOLN ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent). At a meeting of the school committee last Tuesday night it was decided to hold the annual school picnic in Mr. Nisbet's bush paddock on the day tho school breaks up for the holidays. We have been having a change of teachers here lately. With my little experience in educational matters, 1 should say that the Taranaki education district is the most difficult to administer in the Dominion, on account of having to find teachers for so many small out-of-the-way schools. Mr. Glassford, of this district, secured several prizes at the New Plymouth Show last Thursday for some of his pedigree stock. Messrs. McGee and Co. have again started their contract for extending the metal on the Lincoln road, and if the present fine weather lasts they will soon j be finished. ■ The Noxious Weed Inspector has paid us a visit, and those who can find a little time in between milking and other duties are already doing all that can be done to comply with the requirements of the law. A start is really going to be made with the erection of the Manlganui bridge. It is a wonder there lias not been a serious accident at this ford, which is one of the most dangerous- on the west coast of the Island.
