THE WILLESDEN SMASH
ALLEGED NEGLECT TO SIGNAL.. -*- By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 6, 11 p.m. London, December 6. The Willesden railway accident was due to a question regarding the signals. The first train was detained for the examination of tickets, and the other should have been signalled to stop Until the line was clear. The driver declares that no signal was given, and a curve prevented his seeing the stationary train until too late. He applied the brakes in the quickest possible time. The consensus of newspaper .opinion is that in view of the enormous number of trains arriving and leaving London daily, the accident has created a very unpleasant impression.
